If the application is for issuance of a passport against an expired (10 years) /damaged/page exhausted passport or for renewal of a passport, the applicant may chose to apply by mail. In that case, a self-addressed, postage paid envelop from USPS, UPS, DHL, FedEx must be sent with the application, for efficient and secure return service.

Applications for passport against a lost/stolen/destroyed passport are not accepted by mail.

Processing time for issuance of a new passport booklet and renewal of an existing passport are given below. This time does not include the time taken for postal service.

Processing a case may, however, take longer time in case:

• Reference needs to be made to competent authorities in Bangladesh.
• Application is received with incomplete information.
• Fees sent are inadequate or paid in an unacceptable manner.
• Any other deficiencies in the application.

The applicant should provide his/her contact telephone numbers in the application form. The Consulate General may need to contact the applicant for further clarification/information. If the applicant cannot be reached in three consecutive days, the application may not be processed.
