Mr. F. A. Shamim Ahmed served as the Consul General from 15 December 2000 to 23 April 2001.
Mr. Ahmed obtained his Masters in Sociology from the Universty of Dhaka and joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1974. In his long diplomatic career, he has served the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh Missions in Nairobi, Tokyo, Rome, New York and Islamabad in different capacities. In 1995-97, he was the Director Geneal, South Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka. In 1997, he became the Deputy Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York and served there until December 2000, before taking up as the Consul General in New York.
In 2001, he was appointed as the Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. In 2003, he was appointed as the Bangladesh High Commmissioner to Pakistan and promoted to the rank of Secretary to the government.
Mr. Ahmed is married to Shabnam Ahmed and they have a son and a daughter.
